As of January 1st 2006 E111 forms are no longer valid. They have been replaced with the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
If you do not yet have a new EHIC then you need to apply for yours now to ensure that you have it in time for the alps.

Yes, everyone MUST take their card to the Alps. If you do not take it, and require medical treatment you will be responsible for the costs involved, not the club or any other party.

Yes - at some stage of the trip you will no doubt need it to scoop soft cheese or something, as no one will have knife...
