Nick For ChairmanHi Boys and Girls,
I would like to announce my plan to run for Chairman of the Kayak club for 2009/2010. Firstly I would like to apologise for my relative lack of involvement in the club for the past year. It has been rather difficult to get across and make time for kayaking amongst other commitments, but I had some fantastic weekends skiing so in my mind I almost made up for both my Wales Weekend and adrenaline deficiency.
I think the club is well positioned to have a cracking year next year in terms of paddling and experience within the club and from the reports it seems that all the fresher’s this year have really progressed and settled in well to the club. Furthermore, we appear to still have a good level of involvement from our old boys, which is fantastic.
My plan is to run weekly pool sessions, a monthly day/afternoon trip to either HPP, The Nene or a London weir (depending on levels), and a monthly trip to Wales or Devon. All of this would culminate in a trip to the French Alps in the summer to paddle the absolutely amazing rivers, and have some sweet times drinking punch, pushing people into ditches, rolling hay bales down the hill, eating and drinking to excess, and generally having a lush time trying perfect our paddling. In addition to the paddling, the social side of the club should be interesting with regular seshes, and good chat.
We have some great ability in the club next year too in people who are returning from placement, so it should be a real opportunity for new comers to the club to learn the basics, and for the existing members to progress.
Lastly, I would like to say, that regardless of who gets the position of next years Chairman, I will be 100% committed to the success of the club both socially and in the amount of paddling we achieve. I really look forward to coming back to the club next year and I can’t wait to get back in my boat.
Best wishes
Nick
