Boofing?

Hey guys,

Been reading some stuff here and there, and I've seen the term 'Boof' and 'Boofing' mentioned a few times.

Anyone able to explain to me what it is, as I've not been able to work it out for myself so far  Embarassed

Cheers,

Tim,

It is a technique used for running drops, with the aim being to land on top of, or clear of, any stopper, thus avoiding getting a munching.

To find out more about it, read this article which explains it rather well.

In case that article didn't help, there is this one as well, courtesy of Gene17Kayaking

Cheers Andy.

First site looks like an especially useful resource! Boofing sounds a bit beyond me at this stage, but at least I understand what it is now  Smile

Boofing: Also similar to "Spoofing"  a strategy game, typically played as a gambling game, often in bars and pubs.

I have it on good authority that there are certain members of the club that wish to down ALL of their pints in Devon - thought that this wsa a very silly idea but they are quite adamant that this is what they want to do!

I therefore suggest that spoofing is used to tackle such issues!

Seconded.

Spoofing is an excellent method for resolving such problems.

boofing is like air.... if you dont use it you have problems. especially if you own a boat that is hole bait!!!!!

Spoofing and boofing are complimentary techniques. Although I cannot claim to have mastered either.

When one finds a situation where a boof might be required to avoid a trashing, it's always worth a quick spoof to see if you can stitch your mate (usually Andy) to go first!

This is the river Fournel, in the French Alps just above L'Argentiere La Bessee

If it is running when we get out there, it would be a great location to practice boofing (and I'm sure spoofing will definitely feature as well).

The description of it is: there are 7 runnable weirs ranging 1-3m, preceded by a 4m monster landing almost dry.

speaking to a kayaking friend from home, theyre goin to alps at the same time as us, hes at bath uni. apparently their chair has been lookin into it and snow fall has been really good so it should be good water! I cant wait!!!!

Which campsite do we stay at and where? I wanna google it Smile exam distraction! xxxx
Andy

Emma,

For further details on Alps water levels, have a read of this thread on UKRGB.

We usually stay on the campsite at the Rabioux playwave, on the banks of the River Durance. The nearest village is Chateauroux-les-Alpes. The nearest town is Embrun.
