Anyone fancy sticking a list of stuff we should bring along? Probably two lists, one required, and one 'nice to have' list.
I know Steve mentioned some stuff at the pool session yesterday, but my memory is truly shocking as Andrew will no doubt attest to. |

theres a list on the main site under 'FAQ' on the side menus, I would add to it a hat and possibly some gloves if you have them. I think bringing warm clothing is the key tho. I don't know what everyone else thinks??
hope you all have lots of fun!! |

So, booze and food.
I understand that I need:
1) As much beer as I'm going to drink, plus some
2) Some random spirit
What about food though? Do I need to bring snacks of greatness, or do we generally just acquire it whilst we're there?

HELLO EVERYBODY... !!
We hope that you are all as excited as we are about the coming weekend. Please read this email carefully as it will tell you all that you need to know/bring etc.
1. MEETING TIME:
5:30PM this FRIDAY 9th NOVEMBER at the canoe store by the GUILD.
From here you will all sort out your kit etc and pack the bus. If you have a big waterproof bag like an ikea bag it may be a good idea to bring one to put all your wet kit in.
If anybody is still in lectures at 5:30 then please let us know!
2. WHAT TO BRING:
-For paddling:
-Old shoes or wetboots
-Warm thermals/fleeces to wear under paddling cags. (Remember that we will be paddling both days so if you want anything dry for the 2nd day then bring more fleeces! Please do try and pack lightish though as we have lots to fit in the bus!)
-Towel
-River snacks such as choccie bars, thermos if you wanna take a warm drink on the river.
For when we're NOT paddling:
-Sleeping bag
-Warm clothes
-Toiletries (there ARE showers, but probably not that would merit any stars on a hotel scale, and limited hot water!)
- RANDOM BOTTLE (of something alcoholic!)
-Hat/gloves/scarf
3. A few more details:
The trip will run more or less like this:
Friday night: pack bus, drive it to wales, unpack, dinner provided for you (whatever dairy-free delight your Chair & Stool fancy cooking) and SESH!!
Saturday: get up, breakfast, head out paddling, get back, eat dinner (another committee feast) and yep, you've got it .. get pissed.
Sunday: get up, breakfast, go paddling, get off the river, pack the van and head straight back to Brum, probably via a food outlet!!
The people on the list are:
If you AREN'T on the list and should be, or if you ARE on the list and shouldn't be (I.e. if Stevo has f**ked up) please let us know ASAP!!!

Yep, the GP sent me to A&E, where they X-rayed me and messed around with my shoulder for a bit.
What I actually had was a shoulder subluxation, or partial dislocation. They're satisfied that everything went back into the joint as it should have done, and they've told me to stop wearing the sling because the swelling has gone down.
Still hurts a bit, and I'm told if I place my arm above and behind my head it'll probably pop out again. I'm not allowed back in a boat for about 6 weeks, but I've got an appointment with a specialist on Wednesday for a more accurate diagnosis.
Overall I'm quite pleased, could have been a lot worse |

That's really good news Tim. You'll just ahve to be really careful when paddling in the future.
