Mr Chair, I find the name of this both sexist and non sympathetic to the older generation....could it not be renamed "forum for youthfully challenged paddlers of mixed gender"?

Ok then, How about "Old People", this getting around the gender problem. Actually, we could just rename it "Old Boys, and Girl", encompassing all the older people who still paddle with us....
Another one could be "Take 2".

How about "The slightly older, than the rest of you who have jobs, pay taxes, for penny pinching, scrounging students to go to university...group".

I am far from being bitter and twisted...I am simply 'ointing out the truth!
It is true, being an Astonite did and still does hold muchos street cred...well repsected through the higher echolons of society, but I dont think I want have to scrapped the few remaining coppers from behind the sofa night after night in desperation of a pint. I simply open the wallet and out pops nice and shiney notes straight from the money tree bank...and guess what!!?? It gets replaced every month. Which I am sure the remaining student population would find quite a novelty!
Anyway, I digress. I simply wanted to 'oint out and agree with my fellow recent leavers of the Aston that 'Old Boys' is simply a little predjudice.
Then again, I really couldn't give a toss...call us what you like!! But just remeber. Students ARE penny pinching and expect my hard earn cash to keep them at university with the sole objective of getting pissed every night. Which when you come to think is actually a FANTASTIC idea... In fact I think I should go back to uni. Oh no!! Then I would be poor penny pinching student!! ha ha ha ha
Only joking peeps...I like being refered to as 'Old Boys' and dont forget the 'Girls'. But could I request it be in old english. I.e. 'Olde Boys' said in an ooh ahh action!!?? I think if it were to be politically correct and include the girls I guess you could call it 'Old People' but I think the image of OLD people bumbling about with zimmer frames and weeing in a bag would be too much for anyone to comprehend on a daily basis...
Olde Boys conjours up images of, 'wise, intellectual, well respected, debonhair like characteristics and I think us OLDE BOYS should really just humour the youth of today. Little do they know, in the blink of a cats fart, they too will be refered to as OLD BOYS!! |

I think that when I was writing it I got distracted and then went back to post it and realised Ame had written pretty much exactly the same thing....

I agree whole heartedly with Chris! this should be 'old boys & girls rule'.
Andy, I think by suggesting old boys & girl you are preventing girls from ye olde ages such as Naiomi or quyen from being included and also will put off a majority of old girls such as Diane from other places from feeling welcome. Sort it out potter! _________________ Emski B |
