Hello All!

I am running for Treasurer next year and I believe that, having been Treasurer before, I would do an excellent job. I have big plans for the club, examples of which include:

Ensuring that we use our finances effectively and for the good of everyone in the club, whether it’s for Freshers who need good kit to make sure they enjoy their initial trips; or for oldies who may have destroyed their own kit – in my case this seems to happen quite a lot. I would use my ‘influences’ over certain SA members to ensure that we got maximum grant so that we would not have to use our financial reserves to buy new boats, clothing or paddles. This would mean that there would be more available money for weekend excursions, Polo competitions and the summer trip.

Finding funds for courses: It is my feeling that club members should be encouraged to take part in courses such as basic First Aid, Safety and Rescue and that they should have the chance to complete qualifications too if they wish to without having to pay for it themselves; I know for a fact that everyone is in need of some throw line practice! This would ensure that everyone is safe whilst out on the river and that they can get the most out of being in the club. These courses would be fully subsidized by the Guild.

Finally, I would ensure that our poor excuse for a store is improved; I have plans to invest in shelves and storage space for the boats so that people can actually get in there, make sure that we have some way of storing wet kit, and ensure that the bloody Ents don’t break anymore of our kit with their stupid fences!! Pillocks! This would make it so much easier to pack and unpack for our trips and we would not have to spend HOURS before and after them trying to get sorted!

I really think that I could help the club out as Treasurer this year, so I ask you to vote for me so that I can start planning things in my office as I STILL have no work to do!
